Where to stay
Isfahan
Four rooms in an alley off Bid Abadi Street, in the quarter named after the Ali Qoli Aqa mosque and its eighteenth-century bathhouse. Two of the four, one in the basement and one at ground level, share a bathroom and toilet; the other two do not. Small and plain, and genuinely in the old town.

Ayineh Khaneh Blvd, opposite Si-o-se Pol
A two-star on the boulevard that faces Si-o-se Pol, close enough that the bridge is the view rather than a walk. Six room types, several of them also offered in a cheaper grade, from a double let to one person up to a triple.
