Lahijan is the green heart of Iran's tea country — the Caspian town where modern Iranian tea cultivation began, its hillsides quilted with tea plantations. Crowned by the forested Sheitan Kuh hill above a tranquil lake, with a National Tea Museum honouring the pioneer Kashef al-Saltaneh, it is a mild, misty, walkable place famous for tea, koluche pastries and Gilani food.
